Multitom Rax
Multitom Rax is a robotic X-ray system capable of performing various techniques to provide detailed images of the body.

Multitom Rax (Multitomography Robotic Advanced X-ray) is an X-ray system equipped with two robotic arms mounted on the ceiling that can move automatically to capture images of different areas of the body from multiple angles. This innovative technology can generate static or dynamic images to aid in diagnosing a wide range of conditions.
This dual robotic device integrates multiple X-ray functions into a single unit, streamlining processes, reducing time, and minimizing risks. Multitom Rax performs radiography, tomography, angiography, or fluoroscopy in two or three dimensions, adapting to each patient’s characteristics and needs.
The Multitom Rax scanner moves around the patient, eliminating the need for them to change positions, whether they are sitting, lying face up, face down, or standing.
How does it work?
The basic operation of Multitom Rax is the same as that of conventional X-rays and tomography: a specific amount of radiation is emitted, with or without contrast injection, passing through body tissues and transforming into images with the help of a receptor. Depending on each tissue’s permeability, it appears in a different shade:
- Soft tissues appear dark gray.
- Bones or cancerous tumors appear white.
- Fat and water-rich tissues appear light gray.
In the Multitom Rax system, one arm emits X-rays while the other serves as the image receptor. Both arms can move simultaneously or independently, facilitating image capture from multiple angles.
What are the benefits of Multitom Rax?
Multitom Rax offers numerous benefits for both patients and medical professionals:
- Multiple applications in a single device.
- Robotic or manual movement for greater precision.
- Automatic, personalized adjustments for each need.
- The scanner rotates around the patient, eliminating the need for movement. In addition to preventing potential injuries from repositioning, this feature is particularly useful for pediatric, geriatric, or immobilized patients.
- A complete body study can be conducted in a single session.
- It allows visualization of internal structures in the position where the patient experiences pain, rather than only lying down as with other scanners.
- Suitable for studies in various specialties (traumatology, orthopedics, digestive system, general surgery).
- A safety system adapts to the available space and stops before touching the patient.
- If necessary, a different type of test can be selected on the spot to provide an accurate diagnosis in the required time.
When is it indicated?
Multitom Rax has a wide range of uses, adapting to the needs of various specialties, particularly traumatology and orthopedics, cardiology, angiology, oncology, and emergency medicine. As a continuously developing technology, its applications are expanding, increasing the number of medical specialties in which it can be used.
What to expect from Multitom Rax
Diagnosis with Multitom Rax is outpatient-based, allowing the patient to resume normal activities immediately after the procedure. When used to guide a surgical intervention, recovery time depends on the specific operation performed.
After signing the informed consent form, the patient wears a hospital gown or pajamas and removes any metal objects. On the day of the test, makeup, contact lenses, or dentures should not be worn.
The use of Multitom Rax is painless and does not produce side effects, as the radiation exposure is minimal. The duration of the procedure depends on the study area and the type of test required.
Specialties where it is used
Multitom Rax is utilized in radiology, oncology, traumatology and orthopedics, emergency medicine, pediatrics, geriatrics, angiography, cardiology, digestive system, general surgery, and vascular surgery.
